SimSim Help Center

Get clear answers about scanning products, capturing printed expiry dates, alerts, teams, and account setup.

Start tracking in 3 steps

A barcode identifies the product. SimSim's AI reads the separate expiry date printed on the package, or you can enter it manually.

  1. Scan or add the product

Use the phone camera or a supported Bluetooth scanner to scan the product. If it is not in the database, take a clear photo and let SimSim suggest its name and details, or enter them manually. Verify the information before saving; SimSim will remember the product next time.

  2. Add a category or location (optional)

You can organize the product by category or storage location, but both are optional. Skip them if you do not need them.

  3. Capture the printed expiry date

Point the camera at the printed date and let AI fill it in, or enter it manually. Verify it before saving, and you are done—SimSim will remind you before the product expires.

Common questions

Quick answers to the issues users ask about most.

Does a barcode contain the expiry date?

Usually, no. A standard retail barcode identifies the product. SimSim recognizes that product, while AI reads the expiry date printed elsewhere on the package.

Why did an alert not arrive?

Confirm that notifications are allowed, battery restrictions are not blocking SimSim, and the saved date is correct. Alerts are a convenience; always verify inventory and printed dates directly.

Can I use a Bluetooth barcode scanner?

Yes. Bluetooth scanner support is included with the Business plan. Camera barcode scanning is available on supported plans.

Can I add team members or use Excel and CSV?

Team permissions depend on your plan. Excel and CSV import and export are available with Pro and Business.
